Roby Stancel IDEO Germany CEO As a member of IDEO's team since 1994, Roby has contributed his expertise to every phase of product development, particularly early project development and innovation strategy programs. He has helped create a wide range of products, including handheld tools, medical and electronic equipment, furniture, and various types of vehicles. Before joining IDEO, Roby was involved in the German automotive and aerospace industries. Roby received a Vordiplom (Bachelor's degree) in Mechanical Engineering and a Dipl.-Ing. (Master's degree) in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Munich Technical University. He also holds an MS PD degree in Engineering/Product Design from Stanford University. He has lectured in the Design Department of the California College of Arts and Crafts in San Francisco and for the last three years before returning to Europe in 2000 at the Product Design Program at Stanford University. While he has two residences in Germany and California, Roby spends most of his time in Munich where he founded IDEO GmbH, the German subsidiary of IDEO Inc. Currently he is the CEO of IDEO in Germany, and focuses on front-end ideation and innovation projects as well as corporate training in design and creativity processes. Roby is a member of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes as well as the VDI. He holds or has applied for about a dozen patents in various industries. Last Updated 18. February 2005
