Malcolm has over 30 years´ experience in film and television. His first post was with Bell & Howell where he rose to head the International Professional Equipment Division. He then spent some time with a London film and video facilities house, and from there went on to join Sky Television (now BSkyB) as Group General Manager.
At Sky Television Malcolm was closely involved in the strategic planning for Sky's move to multi-channel operation, and negotiated the initial £74m contract for carriage on Astra. He also supervised and controlled the £24m fit-out of Sky's headquarters building, which included transmission suites, editing facilities and a live news studio.
Malcolm headed the negotiating team, which concluded the joint venture deal with the EBU to launch Eurosport, becoming a Founding Director. He held additional responsibilities as Managing Director of Sky's subsidiary production company and as a Director of Sky Radio.
Malcom was Managing Director UK Marketing, Société Européenne des Satellites, the Luxembourg-based owners of the Astra satellite system.
In 1990 he started up and led Starbird Satellite Services, which specialised in Satellite News Gathering, providing turnkey facilities to the world´s broadcasters from locations such as Baghdad.
Since 1996, Malcolm is a Sector Adviser for 3i plc. As part of the firm´s investment due diligence process, he reviews businesses in the media and entertainment sectors, and maintains contact with 3i´s portfolio companies. He is Manager of the Media and Leisure Team within 3i´s Industry Group
